On Sunday 9th Dec, I had met up with Psycho and Mad Scotsman to go run the Cross Country 10km at Sophia Antipolis (France). It was a lot of fun, although was a lot of hanging about, and I was not in the best of shape having already had quite a busy time of things on the social front in the run up. It was an interesting course - a lap of a 400m track, then immediately into the countryside on a single file track with several hundred runners. Psycho went off like a scalded hare followed by Scotsman, and then myself - at a decent lick. I paced it well - there were several muddy hills, so I was slow up and quick down, and I was reeling people in all the way until I crossed the line - about 1km short of 10km according to Garmin. Psycho was 40 mins, Scotsman 41 and myself 42 mins - a PB for all of us I think although it was a short course (the results are up on the internet though as a 10km!)
The next day I flew to London, and had a cracking 5km run in Hyde Park with a buddy of mine on Tuesday morning. A busy couple of days, and Wednesday evening I was at my sisters in Surrey - so 40 mins on the spin bike and then Thursday a 15km run along some icey and unlit lanes from Bletchingley to Caterham and back. Using the force was foremost in my mind! I had a long meeting with some people in Cobham, and from the to Gatwick to fly to Geneva. Thursday evening saw me have several meetings and a dinner in Geneva - another very late night. So Friday I dusted off the running shoes and braved the snow to go for a 7.5km run along the lake.
Sunday 16th December I was due to do the Cursa Natale in Monaco - a 10km hilly run, but unfortunately we ended up staying with friends in Cap Ferrat and so I ran back to MC from there. It was a lovely day, and the run along the coast is to die for. It was a little tricky getting into MC due to roadworks and pedestrians not being allowed in the tunnels, so I climbed the hill to the hospital, and came in from there. 17km in just over 1hr30.
Today, 18th Dec, I did a reasonable run from MC to Cap Martin and back - about 12.2km in total, and the body is definitely creaking. Tonight is the work Christmas party, and from then on it is just kids shows and family stuff, which I am definitely looking forward to!!!
