Anyway. Saturday 2nd Feb, I ran pre dawn to Italy and back (we stayed in MC as had plenty of things going on Friday night and Saturday morning as well). I was 72 mins out, 69 mins back, including UP Hernia Hill on the way home, for 25.20km. It was quite a nice run, and despite starting it in pretty tired shape, I felt good on the way home. Like lancing a boil....3 or 4x chair, and then a quick cold bath and brekkie before heading to #2's first Dive Competition. She did really well for her first meet - 6th in class (out of about 12-15 I think) and included the highest score of the tournament for any dive - 19 out of 30 points. The podium was the first 5 places, so she was a little gutted to get 6th, but we were really proud.
Then home for a roast chicken lunch with salad and roast spuds, before dropping #2 off with friends who took her to the circus. #1 had a party / disco, but apparently the boys don't dance (nothing changes there - I still don't dance except under duress). I helped #3 with her mandolin practise (when I say 'helped' I am music illiterate, so I sat there while she plucked and strummed). I managed a cheeky nap, and then picked #1 & 2 up and we all drove out to the country place. Arriving at 8pm, we had raclette and grilled steak, and then a couple of g&t's by the fire before bed. Needless to say, the raclette meant that we all had very bizarre dreams.
Sunday 3rd Feb I was woken by a huge crash as #3 demolished the fridge getting some milk out for her cereal. She was surrounded by jam, eggs and butter. I cleared it up, made a cup of tea and scrambled egg, bacon, steak and tomoto for everyone, and made childcare arrangements for the WS100. I have booked flights and accommodation as well, so after I get this volunteer form signed I'll be all set. Apart from training and deciding what to put in my various drop bags! Then gym for a 5 set UB - I tried to up the weights and appear to have set myself back a bit on the neck/shoulder recovery, so have arranged physio tonight (Monday) to see what the problem is.
After gym (5 set UB) on Sunday 3rd Feb, we headed to Antibes for #3's gymnastics competition. It was a competition against Antibes, Nice, St Laurent and Menton, but also her "exam" to see whether she could graduate to the next level. She graduated, and got a bronze medal, and has now represented Monaco. How cool?
We were there most of the day, so had a pizza, walked Dog along the beach, had an ice cream, and eventually got home around 5pm. I cooked chicken enchiladas for everyone which were delish, and made a salami fajita in the shape of a clown face for #3 (she doesn't like enchiladas). Mrs R and I had a couple of glasses of Italian wine (2 euros for 1.5 litres - its cheaper than water), and we all watched Battleship which was good fun.
This morning, Monday 4th, I got up early, ran out to Menton (without Dog as shoulder is dicky) for 11.2km. I managed 30 mins and change out, and 29 mins dead on the way home. Was a nice run. 4x chair, and some abdos, but no press ups due to shoulder.
My weekends seem permanently taken up with kids activities now, but I am hoping my reward will be in heaven!!!
