It's been a while since I blogged. I have been busy with work, kids and Christmas parties and also had a couple of business trips, and the running / training has almost taken a back seat. I have been running - but only for fun, and I have been much more relaxed about it with nothing on the imminent horizon to train for. It has been just what the Dr ordered really. I have also relaxed about diet, which given the time of year is easy to do, but again it has been great. My running batteries have recharged - I was almost "burnt out" before with the constant training pressure on top of work and home life, and to just run for fun - normally with both dogs - has been terrific. No massive distances, no real speed or hill work sessions, no backpacks.
I am now nearly ready to get back to it - particularly as the jeans are now significantly tighter than I remember. I think I have had 1 night in during the last 2 weeks - and am awash with canapes and wine of all colours. Once the bells ring in the New Year I will be ready to change my life back and embrace the self discipline, but once in a while it is nice to just completely let go. And what better time of year to do it?

I will be posting on an ad hoc basis my thoughts, adventures and challenges on here. I welcome anybody's thoughts and constructive criticisms, but generally I am not interested in contacts requiring me to give over my passport and bank account details in order to transfer €10 million to my account.
